Marriage in the Church of England
Anyone lawfully entitled to be married, and who has not previously been married is entitled to be married at the parish church where they or their partner reside, or where one of them is on the Electoral Roll as a member. This reflects the parish system which is the basic unit of the Church of England, and which ensures that there is a church and a clergy person responsible for the pastoral and spiritual care of people in every place in the country.
We try to observe the parish system when it comes to weddings. This ensures that ‘popular’ parishes are not overloaded, and that people have the chance to develop a relationship with their own parish church.
If you have another family connection with the parish this may also entitle you to be married here. Please see the more detailed information available on the Church of England web site.
If you are eligible and wish to book a wedding at St. Martin’s, please contact the Rector, the Revd James Richards:

Marriage after a divorce
In certain circumstances, where one of the couple wishing to be married has previously been divorced, it may be possible to be married at St Martin’s. This should be mentioned in your initial enquiry.
